Black Friday 2026: Dates, What to Expect and How to Prepare

Black Friday falls on November 27, 2026. Here's the calendar for the long weekend and a simple plan for getting real savings instead of impulse buys.

Black Friday 2026 is on Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 26). Cyber Monday follows on Monday, November 30. In practice, though, the "day" has become a season: many retailers start promotions weeks earlier and keep some going into December.

The 2026 calendar

What tends to be discounted

TVs, laptops, tablets, headphones, smart home devices, small kitchen appliances, toys and video game consoles are the categories most associated with Black Friday. Clothing and beauty retailers usually run sitewide percentage-off events. Travel sites and software subscriptions often save their biggest offers for Cyber Monday.

A simple plan that actually saves money

  1. Make a short list now. Write down what you actually need and a target price for each item. It's the single best defense against impulse buys.
  2. Check prices before the sale. Note the current price of each item on your list. A "doorbuster" that matches an October price isn't a deal.
  3. Join the free rewards programs first. Programs like Target Circle, Kohl's Rewards and My Best Buy are free and can unlock member-only prices or extra rewards during the sale.
  4. Know the return policy. Many retailers extend holiday return windows, but not all do, and open-box or final-sale items may be excluded.
  5. Compare open-box and refurbished. Sometimes a lightly used model beats the Black Friday price on a new one. Our open box vs. refurbished guide explains the differences.
  6. Watch shipping cut-offs. If it's a gift, check the retailer's holiday delivery dates before you buy.

Where to start

We keep a running list of the sale and deal pages for every store we cover on our Black Friday 2026 page. Each link goes straight to the retailer's own deals section, so you see their current prices.

Retailers set their own dates and terms, and those can change. Always check the retailer's site for current details.
